About the Dataset Register

The Dataset Register provides an overview of heritage datasets that are available in the Netherlands. A central place where you can quickly see what heritage data there is.

Who is the Dataset Register for?

The Dataset Register is for everyone who works with heritage data or wants to use it. For heritage organizations that want to make their datasets visible, and for researchers, developers and makers who want to use data.

Your dataset does not have to be linked open data (LOD) to be included. Datasets in other formats are also welcome, such as CSV or Excel. The Dataset Register is open to anyone who wants to make heritage data findable.

Why does the Dataset Register exist?

Heritage organizations manage large amounts of digital information about their collections. This information is often spread across different systems and websites. It is therefore not always clear which datasets exist, where they can be found and how they can be used.

The Dataset Register brings together dataset descriptions from heritage organizations in one place. This way you can see what is available and how to get started with it. By describing datasets in a standardized way, they become more findable, searchable and comparable.

Who manages the Dataset Register?

The Dataset Register is managed in the Digital Heritage Network. In this network, heritage organizations, software suppliers and other organizations work together to improve the findability and usability of digital heritage.
