This dataset contains metadata and digital images of objects related to the States General and the political history of the Dutch Republic (16th–18th century). The States General were the highest governing assembly where representatives of the provinces met to decide on legislation, war, and foreign policy. The collection includes not only depictions of meetings, but also portraits of political and military leaders, representations of battles, and allegorical and propagandistic prints illustrating the political power and events of the Republic.
